Share Your DA Story - Advocating for Fair Pay for Dental Assistants

We need your help! As we prepare to represent Dental Assistants (DAs) at the Fair Work Commission (FWC) Award Review on Gender Undervaluation, your voices and experiences are crucial to our advocacy efforts.

Dental Assistants are the backbone of the dental sector, yet many of you are underpaid, undervalued, and overworked. To effectively argue for a raise in base pay rates and better working conditions, we need to hear about your workplace experiences and the challenges you face. Have you faced difficulties balancing work and personal life due to low wages? Have you felt your efforts go unnoticed despite your critical role in patient care? Your stories are powerful and can make a real difference.

We are particularly interested in understanding:
▪️ What makes you valuable to the practice (invisible skills)?
▪️ Are you recognised for your years of loyalty or experience?
▪️ Have you been on the same pay rate for an "eternity"?
▪️ Are you "expected" to cover roles such as cleaning duties?
▪️ How could your contribution to the profession be better valued?
▪️ Or, if you have the perfect employment, what makes it so rewarding?

By sharing your experiences, you can help us build a compelling case to present to the FWC. Every voice counts, and your input is invaluable in our mission to achieve fair pay and conditions for all Dental Assistants. Together, we can fight for fairer wages and better working conditions for all DAs in Australia.

Please share your story with us at info@dapa.asn.au or call Barbara at (02) 9569 3220. Your responses will be completely confidential.
