An exciting new direction for DAPA events

We wanted to share an important update with the DAPA community. After careful consideration, DAPA has decided not to proceed with a conference in 2026.

While we are naturally disappointed, this decision gives us an important opportunity to rethink how we bring the dental assisting community together and provide professional development that is accessible, relevant and affordable.

Throughout the remainder of 2026, we will continue to build on the success of our webinar series. Delivered every six weeks, the series has attracted strong support from across the profession. Nearly 400 dental assistants registered for our most recent webinar, and the recording was viewed a further 180 times after the live event.

These results demonstrate a strong appetite for flexible online learning that allows dental assistants to participate regardless of where they live or work. This is particularly important for DAs interstate, in regional and remote communities, and those balancing work, family, and other commitments.DAPA is committed to taking a truly national approach to supporting and developing dental assistants across Australia. This will be a central focus of our 2027 program, ensuring DAs have greater access to relevant professional development, practical resources and opportunities to connect, regardless of where they live or work.

Looking ahead, DAPA plans to launch an exciting new events program in 2027. We are currently considering the topics, timing and delivery formats that will provide the greatest value to dental assistants, dental practices and our industry partners. The program will build on the strengths of our webinar series while creating new opportunities for learning, professional connection and industry engagement.

Further details about the 2027 program will be shared as planning progresses. We look forward to working with our members, presenters and industry partners to create an innovative program that supports dental assistants across Australia and strengthens our professional community.
